The Evening Redness in the West

Snapped some phone shots of a few quick little Nu-Pastel character studies of Judge Holden from Blood Meridian. I haven't settled on his actual look yet, the finals will probably contain none of the sketch designs. It's going to be a major challenge to depict the ultra serious, old testament quality of the book in picture form.

"The judge was seated upon the closet. He was naked and he rose up smiling and gathered him in his arms against his immense and terrible flesh and shot the wooden barlatch home behind him."

Very cool, I'm digging the bottom right one the most so far. Ever think of doing one of him when hes just sitting on that rock in the middle of the desert when they first meet him?

I don't know if we talked about McCarthy, but "Blood Meridian" is on my top three. You are killing it.

I am loving this. If you're ever going to do more of The Judge, might I suggest a hat, a belt of bullets, and maybe those gigantic handguns he uses near the beginning? Although he works as a naked dancing giant too. Fabulous work. Fabulous.
